Kelli Peterson
Intern, ND, CYT-L1

Sometimes the hardest part of healing isn’t knowing what to do—it’s making sense of what you’re experiencing.

I work with adolescents and adults who are navigating trauma, anxiety, overwhelming stress, difficult relationships, and major life transitions. Many of the people I work with feel exhausted from constantly overthinking, staying on high alert, or wondering why they keep falling into the same patterns. They aren’t looking for someone to “fix” them—they’re looking for someone who will walk alongside them, help them better understand themselves, and support them as they move toward healing.

My path to counseling has been shaped by a lifelong interest in understanding people and what helps them heal. Before becoming a counselor, I earned my Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine and later became a Registered Yoga Teacher. Those experiences deepened my appreciation for treating the whole person and sparked a lasting interest in how chronic stress and trauma affect both the mind and body. Today, they continue to shape the way I approach counseling by integrating evidence-based therapy with mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and an appreciation for the mind-body connection.

My approach is person-centered and trauma-informed, which means I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to create a safe, supportive relationship where you feel seen, heard, and accepted while we work together at a pace that feels right for you. I don’t believe therapy is about telling people who they should become. Instead, I see it as walking alongside you as you reconnect with your own strengths, wisdom, and resilience.

When it aligns with a client’s goals, I enjoy incorporating mindfulness, nervous system regulation, interoceptive awareness, and personalized affirmations into the therapeutic process. Rather than using one-size-fits-all affirmations, I help clients discover words that genuinely resonate with what their nervous system needs in the moment. When paired with greater body awareness, these affirmations can become a powerful tool for fostering self-compassion, creating a greater sense of safety, and supporting lasting change.

I believe healing isn’t about becoming someone else—it’s about understanding yourself in a new way. Whether you’re navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, or a major life transition, my hope is to provide a safe space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered. It would be a privilege to walk alongside you as you reconnect with your strengths, discover greater compassion for yourself, and move toward meaningful, lasting healing.

“Healing often begins when we stop asking, ‘What’s wrong with me?’ and start asking, ‘What has my mind and body been trying to protect me from?'”
