“The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction not a
destination”
When I took my first Psychology class at age 14, I realized that this was my passion! I was immediately hooked, and wanted to help people, and learn how to help others through difficult times! I continued on to Indiana University, to get my undergraduate degree in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology and Spanish. I then went on to Graduate School at Adler School in Chicago. During the 12 years I have been in the mental health field, I have had a wide range of experiences, including working for non-for-profit agencies, Intensive Outpatient Programs, Substance Abuse facilities, and Private Practices.
Experience and Approach
I have worked with a range of ages, and struggles. I have found that connecting with people on a personal level has been the best way for me to provide individuated care, and help others the most! Meeting clients where they are at is most important to me. Throughout my career, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults while providing individual, family, and couples counseling. I also have experience working with marital & pre-martial counseling, divorce, co-parenting/family therapy, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, grief and loss, and any life changes. I use personal experience to make a strong, and lasting therapeutic bond with my clients!
My treatment approaches vary, as I believe in client centered care, which allows me to pull from different therapeutic approaches to tailor a treatment plan to each person. We are all human, and have different needs, so I work hard to provide a personalized plan for you! I often pull from CBT, DBT, EFT, Family/Relationship Dynamics, and Behavioral Therapy. I promise to meet you where you are at, to work at your pace, and to help you find the healing you need to become the best version of yourself!
Personal Information
I am a huge animal lover, and often bring my little English bulldog to sessions, as she has been a therapy dog since she was a puppy. Clients really love being able to interact with her, and studies find that as little as 3 minutes of animal contact can lower anxiety and blood pressure! I am constantly tying to gain more knowledge in Psychology, and would love to continue my education to a PsyD, or PhD level. I love the outdoors, spending time in the sun in summer, and cozy up inside in the winter!
A Quote I live by:
“You wield the torch of hope for those who feel lost in the dark. You
shine a light so others can find strength within themselves. As you guide
and support, you encourage change, stamina, and healing”
