When I started college I was an accounting major. However, that quickly changed once I took introduction to psychology. I found the information to be very intriguing and before I knew it, I was hooked. I began to enjoy analyzing thoughts and behaviors, along with helping people problem solve through difficult times. Identifying people’s experiences and where they were in life was interesting.
I now appreciate being able to have the opportunity to empower people to cope and heal, to develop these personal connections.
During the course of the 25 years that I have been in the mental health field, I have had a diverse range of experiences working at an adolescent residential facility, non-for-profit agency, private practice, and online counseling.
Throughout my work, I have ran therapeutic groups in a residential setting, provided individual therapy to a range of ages, helped people develop coping skills to overcome anxiety and depression, improved stress management skills, resolved codependency, developed behavioral plans, and worked the administrative side of a non-for-profit.
I have enjoyed all areas of mental health, however, the main areas that I am interested in are ADHD, anxiety, and OCD. I continue to explore new topics and gain knowledge in all areas of psychology.
