Therapy is a wonderful way to better understand yourself and your life. I like to create a safe non-judgmental zone for my clients. I approach my clients by seeing them as a whole person and will work to create a therapeutic space that feels effective for them. I really like to meet my clients where they are at and work on their strengths. My way of thinking is building on strengths instead of looking at what needs to change.
In working together, we can learn how your past has impacted your current life, explore how to foster acceptance and create changes in the present, and consider what you would like your future to look like. My hopes are to build a therapeutic relationship, where you feel comfortable and feel that you can talk about whatever it is you are needing at the moment. With warmth and compassion, I am willing to help you with whatever is discovered during therapy.
I have had depression throughout my life, which is why I began my journey as a counselor. I want to help others learn skills and cope, just as I did during therapy. To help empower others to move forward in their healing journey. Since I have been on both sides of therapy, as a counselor and a client, I have life experiences that can be helpful to hear from a different perspective.
Counselors are humans too and I want you to know I do not know everything, but I am willing to be the person by your side as you figure out your needs, goals, etc. To help support and guide you as you develop necessary skills to overcome your barriers in life.
I specialize in addictions and am extremely passionate about helping those who struggle with addiction or have a loved one who does. Even though addiction is my passion, I am open to working with a range of clients, as I feel each person has their own unique story and we can learn from each other. Other areas I work with are depression, anxiety, relational issues, everyday life struggles, and more.
On a personal note, when I am not working, I enjoy drawing, along with watching movies and TV. I have 3 dogs and a toddler that keep me busy.
