We are approaching Mental Health Awareness Month, so let’s start talking about mental health!
It is no secret that mental health issues have been on the rise in recent years. With the increasing amount of stress, anxiety, and depression, it is becoming more important than ever to take the time to take care of your mental health.
However, with the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it can be hard to find the time to focus on your mental wellbeing.
Here are some tips, good starting points on where to start taking better care of your mental health.
-Recognize the signs of mental health issues. If you find yourself struggling, it is important to take the time to recognize these feelings and take steps to address them. Many people are hesitant to seek help when they are feeling overwhelmed, but seeking help is one of the best things you can do to take care of your mental health.
-Make time for yourself. Taking some time for yourself every day can be incredibly beneficial for your mental health. Whether it’s taking a walk, listening to music, or reading a book, make sure you are taking some time to do something that you enjoy and that relaxes you.
-Start a basic self care routine focusing on sleep, nutrition, and exercise. When starting, take small steps in each area, to see progress which will help with motivation.
-Stay connected. Having strong relationships with family and friends is vital for your mental health. Make sure you are taking the time to spend quality time with the people you care about.
-Start tracking your mood a week before you make changes and continue for at least a month after you start (check out the variety of mood apps to help with this task).
Taking care of your mental health is an important part of living a healthy and happy life.
